Shabby little trailers

Everyone knows I love my little studio/craft cottage… but MOVE OVER studio I have a new love interest.

I have been drooling over the fabulous vintage trailers out there that have been fixed up so cute!

They come in all colors and styles.  The interiors are just as charming as the outside.

I first stumbled across this Blog somehow about a year ago..http://vintagecottagecamper.blogspot.com/  and immediately was smitten by Nora Pearl.

This is Constance, I only found this photo on Pinterest but had no link its origins.

I could not find the name of this one but I thought it cool to have a matching panel van to pull it with.

This one is not even that old but I just love the faux shutters, bird feeder and window boxes.

These are only a few of the shabby little tin cottages out there.  But getting one for myself is definitely on my ‘to do’ list.

Just thought I would share my latest crush!

Have a great weekend, supposed to be sunny here!

My Bench is Underway!

I have been a painting fool again today.  I have more sign orders to fill and I am trying to keep my nose to the grindstone and keep up with them.  But in between coats of paint I have been working on my bench.

This is my inspiration..

I had shared this in my Take a Seat Post

Since I cannot really see the sides or back I am winging it to the best of my ability. And I am using materials I have on hand so it is a bit of a challenge. But here goes nothing…

I started with these blanks, I had my husband cut the sheets of plywood to 48” x 18”. I did not know how tall I as going to make the bench but knew it had to be under 48”.

Then I eyed the above photo of the bench and used different sized circles (like a paint can lid, styrofoam plate and a big clock face blank) to work out the curves.  I clamped it to my worktable I built (love this thing)and started up my jigsaw.

It was messy but we got the job done.  I prefer doing the sawing outside because of all the sawdust flying everywhere but it was raining today. Soon I had this..

I gave the back a slight angle and the back piece will sit on that little ledge. So far I think I am going to like it and from here on out it should be fairly straight forward.  (I hope)
On another note, here are two of the signs I was finishing up today.

I am really liking this Antiques sign.. I may have to make another.

Well, I am done in for today.  Tomorrow I have errands to run and my hair to get trimmed so I doubt I will get any painting done or get to work on my bench.

Enjoy your evening.

Creative crochet critters

Until I picked up my crochet hook this past Fall and started looking for patterns via Blogs and Etsy shops I had never heard of Amigurumi.

I am sure it has been around forever and I was just missing the boat but now that I have found it I know I will eventually try some of these cutesy designs.  They just make me smile so I have to share a few.

These are called Teacup bunnies….

These are merely a few of the numerous patterns out there for quick fun little crochet projects.  You can’t help but get inspired.

Enjoy!

It’s a Monday.

Just a quick check in here.  I needed a break so I am sitting here with a cool ice tea.

I have several special order signs I am working on.  I usually work on a few at a time.  When I have to wait for maybe the base paint to dry on one I can work on the lettering of another.
Here is the Red Rose painting sign in progress, it is painted on a cabinet door.  The sun was shining on part of it but I was in a hurry to send it to the customer and get some feedback.

Red roses are particularly difficult with my style of painting as I normally highlight with white and when you do that on red you end up with pink roses instead of red.  But I had a brainstorm and figured out another method which was rather a ‘duh’ moment once the light bulb clicked on.

A close up of the roses..

The other sign is pink roses with a creamy crackled background.  The customer on this one change her mind on size so this one will go up on my website.  It is 15” x 15” and I will leave it as is, then whomever orders it can put what wording they wish over Cottage.

This one will say “Paradise” and go over a doorway.

I also have some geranium signs that have been ordered but I am just getting those base painted.  I will share them as soon as there is something other than bare paint to see.
Back to painting for me!
