Cottage Garden Signs
Good Friday Morning. I am stuck in a hotel room so no garden tour with my coffee this morning. It is taking me a bit to unglue my eyes. It was not a restful night for me but the power of caffeine will help. Especially as I am not used to it, we normally drink decaf.
I have some photos I took of my garden yesterday but I will save those for tomorrow. I wanted to share a set of garden signs I recently painted for a customer. She wanted them for her grand children and she let them choose the flowers. It was so fun to read each order, she gave their ages, the youngest was 3.
I wish I had a better picture of this one. The lilies were a first for me and I love how they turned out but the photo does not show them well.
I really should’ve taken a close up of them but I was in a hurry.
Coco chose lilies, red rose and a peony.

Rio, I assumed is a boy, he chose bluebells and peonies.

Lilah chose bluebells, lilacs and roses.

Stella (the 3 year old) wanted roses, violets and lots of color. I had meant to put the yellow flowers I added to Lilah’s on Stella’s but in the chaos of the moment switched them inadvertently.

I don’t think Stella minded. I received a sweet note from their Grandmother that they all loved them.
This was a fun group to paint, I had not painted peonies before or the lilies so it pushed my boundaries a bit.
We have a full weekend ahead. I will share my latest blooms in my garden as I can. I also had a sweet surprise from my chickens.
Until then…may your days be filled with sunshine and sweet blossoms.

Signs of the Week.
As promised here is the signs that have kept me busy this week. I had a few special orders come thru and some sales off my website so I was busy in the studio all week.
With the snow coming down it put a damper on my being able to fill my straw bale raised bed with first a bit of horse manure (12 inches deep) to compost and create heat beneath the finished compost I will fill the rest of the bed with. This next week is to heat up and I can once again work on that so I can start my lettuce and spinach seeds.
My first order of the week was for a cottage sign, the customer requested purple hydrangeas, at first I had them too dark but I was able to lighten them up easily.

Next was an order for two signs for to put on two garden gates. This is the larger one.

And this is the smaller of the two.

I had an order for the Garden Therapy sign on my website, it is a popular one and I am making a few more with different flowers on them. This one has the pink rosebuds.

My potting shed signs are popular and I thought to make one with some embellishments to go along with the ones that are just plain text. This of course is a pink rosebud one.

You can see my worktable is being put to good use. The shelf on the lower level is perfect for letting the paint dry on items leaving the top free for me to continue working.
I am putting a nice large shelf above the French Doors and will share a bit about that later.

Painting and more painting!
Blogger seems to be having an issue, you can only view it in reader mode. I cannot access my blog to edit, link up to parties or anything like that right now. So glad someone had told me about Live Writer when I was beginning to blog. What a great service! Love it. I can still write out my blog post even if I cannot publish it yet.
I have been a painting fool of late. I have received a boatload of sign orders and I have to have some done by the first of the month. With the size of one order, getting them done in a timely fashion will take some dedication, long painting hours and being organized! Here is a few I just finished…

I replanted the broccoli that was demolished but the new plant was also eradicated by something, this time it looks to have been pawed out of the ground.
I suspect cats but I did not find anything disgusting left behind. I will need to fence off or some other way protect that bed until the poor little plants can grow in a bit.
I started to paint my potting bench today, I really am enjoying the chalk paint. I also painted a sign with it. I used the leftover fence boards..

It is sizable. I am not sure what text to use on it. I will put some in the bottom border and something could be arching over the rose. Any suggestions, ideas??
The background is Chalk paint Old White and the bottom border is Country Gray, the rose I had to use acrylic craft paint, I did not have chalk paint in pink.
I wrote all of the above on Thursday and now here it is Saturday morning and I am just now getting back to it to post it. I hope you all have a great weekend.
I am off to the valley to pick up painting supplies as I have a large order and I am out of certain mediums and colors of paint I need for it. Looks to be wet and cold the next few days but then next week a warm up, so I can really get my garden going….YES!
Ta ta…
