Hand Painted Love signs with roses

Man has it been cold, cold.  It was a nippy 16 degrees this morning and the snow that fell day before yesterday stayed powdery and the pipes froze to my studio.   Boo.  But that does not stop me from painting.  I crank up the heat and paint on.  I had to haul a couple gallons of water in jugs to wash brushes but I managed.

(for a full tutorial on how I paint my signs click here "click")

I painted some loooove signs.

My favorite is this one with the roses on the black lettering.

And my husband picked the Sage Green Love sign with heart wreath.

I also had a special request of changing the egg color on my Nest painting.  I was happy to oblige for the customer.

Before:

After

She had no blue in her house and prefers a more neutral feel so requested the blue eggs be changed to light brown speckled.  No problem.

When not painting away I have been working again on my website.  It is slowly coming together but I find a few things I am having trouble adjusting.   There are some font sizes that need changing  but I am sure it is just a matter of time along with trial and error.

There is a blog feature in the website but I am not familiar with blogging in Wordpress, it may be time to learn.  It supposedly would help my rankings for the new website in the search engines so I shall have to learn it.   That shall be good for me. learning new things expands the brain cells or creates new ones, I need all the brain cells I can get.

I, for one, am ready for this extreme cold to go away.  I am dreaming of warm tropical weather, swaying palm trees, hot sunshine and cold ice tea.  But in lieu of that I have drug a steel rack of shelves into the living room to start my seeds for summer.  I will be sure to share.

I wish you warm sunshine and soft breezes wherever you may be.

Chalkboard Art

Good wet Wednesday all.  It is a good day to spend in the studio painting, the rain pours and I have the heater cranked up to keep me toasty as I paint away.

I have a couple more sign orders to fill and in between painting the signs I have been working on some chalk boards.
I do love the way the colors stand out against the black chalkboard paint.  I bought a small test bottle but I have numerous ideas of things to turn into chalkboards so buying a quart of this stuff is on my list.

This first one is a cabinet door, I have yet to trim the inside rim and I am thinking a nice soft gray to outline it the black.
I should’ve written something on it in chalk for you.

Hmmm…I always thing of these things a bit late.

This next one is just a piece of plywood, I shall put a frame around it and paint it or stain it, I have yet to choose.

I just love the lavender with the yellow.

These are both a good size to hang in the kitchen as menu boards or maybe to have a grocery list.

I have a few clipboards I am going to paint up next.

Along with all this painting I am slowly working on my new website.  I no longer am completely overwhelmed with learning the new platform and am actually getting accustomed to it enough to enjoy the creative process.

It will still be awhile before I have it running properly as I only work on it an hour here and there.

I am not only learning to build a website on Wordpress but how to create my own themes so I am not dependent nor restricted by premade themes created by others.

I am told learning a new skill increases the synopsis in the brain and therefore keeps it sharp which (I hope) will offset the damage done by banging my head against my desk in frustration.

Enjoy your day!

It’s a Monday.

Just a quick check in here.  I needed a break so I am sitting here with a cool ice tea.

I have several special order signs I am working on.  I usually work on a few at a time.  When I have to wait for maybe the base paint to dry on one I can work on the lettering of another.
Here is the Red Rose painting sign in progress, it is painted on a cabinet door.  The sun was shining on part of it but I was in a hurry to send it to the customer and get some feedback.

Red roses are particularly difficult with my style of painting as I normally highlight with white and when you do that on red you end up with pink roses instead of red.  But I had a brainstorm and figured out another method which was rather a ‘duh’ moment once the light bulb clicked on.

The other sign is pink roses with a creamy crackled background.  The customer on this one change her mind on size so this one will go up on my website.  It is 15” x 15” and I will leave it as is, then whomever orders it can put what wording they wish over Cottage.

This one will say “Paradise” and go over a doorway.

I also have some geranium signs that have been ordered but I am just getting those base painted.  I will share them as soon as there is something other than bare paint to see.
Back to painting for me!

Happy Summer!

Yep, I am still enjoying the heat and I do NOT have air conditioning.  I just love being warm.  I have been keeping busy and I only have a minute to check in here tonight but I thought I would share some signs I have been working on…

Most of this sign is done with chalk paint, just thought I would experiment..it is a very large sign, it is painted on cedar fence boards.

And last but not least is a sign I am still in the middle of…I am having fun with this one, I need to add more red to the parrot, the customer wants it to be a very colorful bird and maybe some tropical flowers around him.

Enjoy your evening…
