Sweet peas are one of my favorites, not only the sweetest scent that perfumes a large area but they have the most delicate blooms. This one is a favorite of mine, it is called High Scent. The name says it all.
I have it planted in a pot and the pot sits on my back deck, so when I sit out under the umbrella at the table I can relish the sweet scent as I enjoy my meal.
I am still tickled about my Crazy Daisy. It just makes me smile each time I see it, it just fills out more and more. I can’t wait to be able to separate it and make more plants. I did start it from seed but not all came out nice and frilly like this one so the only way to get a true duplicate is to divide it at the root once it has gotten larger.
My black eye susies are opening up..I just love the burnished ones, such a contrast to their pure yellow neighbors.
The Feverfew comes back thicker each year, it readily reseeds itself but it is easy enough to yank out where I do not want it, but makes great filler between my other flowers.
I have always favored the rich blue lobelia and never really bothered with others but this year the only trailing lobelia came in mixed six packs so I went ahead bought it for my window boxes to nestle between the petunias. I think I now have a new favorite. I just love the touch of blue trimming the white on this one, I will definitely save the seeds!
This is a rose I bought from The Antique Rose Emporium, it is called Pam’s Pink, you can guess why I had to have it. What I love about old roses is if some freak freeze or other catastrophe kills it then it comes back from the root. Another favorite I have gotten from them is called Kirsten Poulson. That has got to be one of the toughest roses and it blooms non-stop all summer long.
Other than being in my garden I have been working on a very few signs, I am nearly out of Laundry signs on my website so I have been trying to restock. The shabby reclaimed boards make for unique signs, each one is definitely different.
I had thought to be out and about today but had forgotten I am awaiting a delivery that must be signed for, so home bound I am. Not to worry, I have TONS to get done around here and this forces me to be home to do it.
Off to work I go!
Oh, and another note..I had some neighbors complain I had not included their houses in my Neighborhood post so I shall be doing a sequel post soon! Stay tuned. I think I should do a neighborhood garden post. Lots of cottage gardens here! Some with plants that were put in the ground in the 30’s and were supposedly brought west with the 49’ers.
